Course Description: Two 26.2(plus) mile loops of
single track trail, bridle trails, some roads and the Towpath Trail. The entire course is within the
CVNP and includes water crossings, roots, rocks, hills, stairs and good chance of really bad weather! The 60k option repeats only a portion of the second 26.2 (plus) loop.

Both runs start at 5:00 AM (trek start available)

Course closes at 5:00 PM

Aid Stations: There will be four staffed aid stations and one unmanned aid station at approximately five mile intervals. Each station will be used twice. There will be crew access at three places on the course.
All entrants receive a gender specific, long sleeve
tech shirt and a post race meal. All finishers will
also receive a USEFULL and unique finisher award.
Awards: Top Male/Female; Top Male/Female Masters; Top Male/Female Grandmasters (50+)

Packet Pick Up: 4:00-4:45 AM
Race packets and gear left after the run will be
donated to the Salvation Army-Please keep track
of your gear!

The Course

The Double Marathon (plus) Course

Start at Kendall Ledges Shelter and follow the access road south to Truxell Road. Turn right on Truxell and left at the entrance to Kendall Lake. Make an immediate left turn onto a small trail and left at the Cross Country Trail. Follow the Cross Country Trail past the gas well and back into the woods. At the fork stay to the right and follow the trail to a large open field. Turn left at the trail post and climb two steep hills, ending at the Pine Hollow Aid Station. There is crew access, a restroom and a public telephone. 4 miles / 30.3 miles

Depart Pine Hollow Aid Station to the south. Pass Crowfoot Gully parking lot and continue to the south end of Little Meadow parking lot. Turn right and cross Quick Road where you join the Wetmore Bridle Trail to the left. Wetmore Trail will lead to Langes Run Bridle Trail where runners will turn left. Stay on Langes Run to Robinson Field, cross Akron Peninsula Road and take Valley Bridle Trail to the Bolanz Road Aid Station. There is no crew access at Bolanz Road. Restrooms are available. 9.3 miles / 35.6 miles

Leave Bolanz Road Aid Station to the north on Towpath Trail, ending at Boston Store Aid Station. There is crew access and a restroom at Boston Store. 14.7 miles / 41 miles

Follow Towpath Trail South from the Boston Store Aid Station and turn left at the Buckeye Trail junction. The buckeye Trail will lead to the Pine Lane Self-Aid Station. There is a restroom but no crew access at Pine Lane. 18.7 miles / 45 miles

Join the Valley Bridle Trail to the south, cross SR 303 and run into the pines. Cross Akron Peninsula Road at Brandywine Golf Course. The Valley trail will return you to Akron Peninsula where you will travel north (left) for .3 miles. Turn right on Salt Run Trailhead and left at the first trail junction. Follow Salt Run Trail to Lake Trail and turn right. Keep Kendall Lake on your left, go through the tunnel and make an immediate left to the Kendall Lake Shelter Aid Station. There are restrooms as well as crew access at Kendall Lake Shelter. 23 miles / 49.3 miles

Exit Kendall Lake Shelter Aid Station north through the parking lot and cross Truxell Road to the trailhead next to the entrance sign. Follow the trail up to the Pine Grove Trail junction and turn left. Turn left on the Circle A trail. Cross the Octagon Shelter Access Road and stay on the trail until you reach the Ledges Trail. Turn right and follow the trail at the base of the Kendall Ledges. (Be sure to take time to enjoy the view at the Overlook) Stay on Ledges Trail across Ledges Shelter Access Road and continue around the base of Kendall Ledges. Pass Ice Box Cave and turn left up the trail leading to the Start/Finish area at Ledges Shelter. There will be crew access, restrooms and aid at Ledges Shelter. 26.3 miles

Repeat the course. 52.6 miles

The 60 K (or so) course

The first loop is the same as the Double Marathon (plus) course. Begin the second loop and pass through the Pine Hollow Aid Station. Continue to the marked turn around point. At the turn around there will be a book, CUT ( cut! because I'm the Race Director and I say so! ) a page from the book with either your own scissors, or with those attached to the book. Return to the finish in the reverse direction. You will be asked to show the page you CUT from the book at the finish.
